BASIC EFFECT: A borrowed, marked coin up to half dollar in size is put in a small wood box and the lid is closed. The box is shaken and the coin can be heard inside. The box can be shaken by the spectator and the coin is heard as well. Attention shifts to an envelope which is brought out. The coin is heard to be in the box still and the box and envelope never come together nor does the envelope leave the audience's sight. The coin is then magically transported invisibly from the box which is shaken once again. No sound. Then it is opened. No coin. The envelope is opened and the marked coin is found to be inside. This vanish can also be performed with a borrowed ring.
The Rattle Box is still one of the greatest utility items for the vanish of a coin or ring because the noise created separates the moment of vanish until long after the coin is actually gone. The Rattle Box has been around for over 75 years but has never been available in a size that made sense until now. Not only has the size been changed but the rattle mechanism is no longer accessible from outside the box making this method more self contained. The spectator cannot accidentally discover the secret, and it will trip up anyone familiar with the prior method. It is manufactured to exacting standards using a combination of exotic woods for the trim and Zebra wood panels for the lid and bottom. I have recently made the box taller to accept rings taller than wedding bands.
TESTIMONIALS:
Atlantis Magic did it !! When I received this little marvel, I already knew, that, except for displaying in my collection, I will never use again any others of my rattle boxes !
The size is perfect, the woods chosen by Craig are splendid, the craftsmanship is great, the gimmick works like in a dream.
The different handling proposed in the instructions are really interesting.
It is useless to be more wordy about this little gem; let me give you one advice : if you need a rattle box, this is the one ! Get one as soon as you can.
Bravo Craig, I can't wait to catch your next item, and add it to my collection ! Francois Danis
"A Rattle Box You Will Use I just received Craig Brooks' new "21st Century Rattle Box," and I am so impressed by it on so many levels. First, its a beautiful box made of gorgeous hardwoods...it looks like a box you would buy at an Art Fair. Beautiful yet innocent looking...definitely not "gimmicky" in any way whatsoever.
The size is perfect. It's very small. Not the old "big box" design of the past. Craig really thought this size issue through when he designed this.
Finally, the rattle mechanism is completely unique...this is another new design feature that Craig came up with for acheiving the rattle sound. And it resets instantly.
This is a Rattle Box that you will actually use in performance. This really is the 21st Century rattle box!
Highly Recommended." A.J.
"CREATIVE THINKING UPDATES A CLASSIC! I've just received Craig's latest "Improved" 21st Century Rattle Box and I must confess it is even better than I thought it was going to be!
It's just the right size for vanishing a coin. It doesn't look at all suspicious thanks to the almost square shape and relatively thin bottom (when compared to every other rattle box on the market).
The rattle mechanism locks and releases with ease.
The craftsmanship is superb and the price very reasonable.
All in all I'm anxiously awaiting other creations from Atlantis Magic."Larry Wilfong
"Craig Brook’s (Atlantis Magic) 21st Century Rattle Box Just about every Magician worthy
of a thumb tip has used a rattle box at one time o r another. It’s a GREAT vanish for a
coin or ring. The problem with all the other rattle boxes available today, and there are
some beautiful ones, is the SIZE and SHAPE of the box in relation to the object being
vanished is too out of proportion. In addition, even the “good ones” are a bit risky to
leave in the hands of a spectator too long for fear he/she will stumble across the rattle
release.
Our own club member, Craig (Atlantismagic@cox.net), has developed a unique rattle
release mechanism that is totally different from the older models AND he has reduced
the length, width and thickness of the box. The zebra wood used for the lid and inner
bottom seem to contribute in a subliminal way to the logic of the handling. The new almost
square shape of the box seems to make more sense when handling a quarter, half
dollar or dollar." Ring 55 The Lota February, 2008
The Perfect Rattle Box! What a wonder this little rattle box is - and I do mean little, it is a fraction of the size of regular rattle boxes. Craig Brooks has a real winner on his hands with this amazing little device. I have sold all my other rattle boxes and now only use this one. Unfortunately, this means I could not put a picture of a more traditional rattle box as a side by side comparison - but there is a huge difference in both height and length.
It looks beautiful and works perfectly too. This level of detail and very fine craftsmanship is something you rarely see these days, particularly for such an inexpensive item. The small size makes it all the more convincing as it is much closer in size to the coin you are vanishing. The new style rattle mechanism, which takes a little while to get used to, is unique to Craig's box too and you soon realize what you've been missing all these years!
All in all, a very perfect addition to my collection - I can't wait to see the next magical item that Craig produces!
Highly Recommended! Andy Martin
SUPERB RATTLE BOX..........for CENTURIES TO COME ! Craig has produced for the magic world the FINEST RATTLE BOX which I have seen in my nearly 60 years of doing magic. This has been refined, polished, and PERFECTED to the ultimate superb magical weapon to vanish a coin ALMOST IN THE SPECTATOR'S VERY HANDS AND BE SUPER "CLEAN" AT ALL TIMES.
I cannot recommend this product too highly. Craig has thought through all of the "moves" and even SUGGESTED ROUTINES very thoroughly. In fact, it is my personal belief that his cleverness is only OUT DONE BY HIS CRAFTSMANSHIP.
Highly recommend product for any WORKING MAGICIAN OR COLLECTOR.

p.s. I have been honored to have performed with DON ALAN, MR. ELECTRIC (MARVIN ROY) AND EVEN ARTHUR BUCKLEY (from England). As a teenager I have even known OKITO. Okito would have LOVED this 21st. Century Rattle Box by Craig Brooks. BRAVO!
