RUSSELL AND MORGAN TOURISTS

A brand from the early days of the US Playing Card Co. this deck is c1886 and is the Tourist brand. According to Hochman's Encyclopedia of American Playing Cards the Tourist was a happy medium between the finish of the lower end Tiger and Steamboat brands and the back designs of the Bicycles. It is difficult to see in the photo but the Ace of Spades reads "Russell & Morgan Printing Co." under the pip and is one of the methods used to date the deck, that particular style being used from 1886-1891.
