MYSTO MAGIC SET NO 1

From the 1930s is this Mysto Set which contained a variety of magic standard of the day buy not often seen today. The Mysto Co. was owned by AC Gilbert, a former olympic pole vaulter who began in business with John Petrie at the onset of the 20th century. They parted company unamicably and AC Gilbert took the name Mysto that John's wife had created (combination of Mystery and Presto) and continued the company producing puzzles, magic, science, promotional, and novelties. The Mysto line of sets was vast and continued for nearly 50 years and was arguably responsible for starting more magicians in magic that any other set except perhaps Adams. This set contained Multiplying coins (three coins and a shell), Topsy Turvy Match as it was later known, Hiding Chessman (Hindu Cones, see the Chandu Set for a description) which doubled as a set of rattle boxes (find the box that rattles), pencil and loop, obedient wood cylinder, and the obligatory vanisher (pull).
