CHANDU

One of my favorite sets is the Chandu set. Chandu was a popular Radio serial and movie character that dated back to the 20s and there were a variety of premiums involving magic that were produced. Some were sold in a set like this one and others were sold singly. Beechnut was one of the sponsors as well as White King Soap which sponsored the set. Contained in the set are Multiplying Billiard Balls, Hindu Cones (find a wooden marker hidden underneath one of 4 metal covers), Card to Matchbox, Hoo (or hooked) coin using a Janos Bartl coin), Obedient Ball, Universal Pull vanisher, Metal Plate to create your own Mirror Glass, and a box that contained a variety of standard packet effects including: "McDonald's Aces" as it is familiarly known, Changing Spots which is a Hofsinzer effect in which the faces of card change from red to black to blank, and the Spotter card trick where an Ace is consistently found from a group of 6 face down cards (spectator always chooses the ace).
