T NELSON DOWNS MT099, MT114, MT115

I have not seen any information regarding the use of these in performances by Tommy Downs (all of my information indicates he used the August Roterberg palming coins in performance, one source being Greater Magic) but they bear his likeness. They have been used by many coin manipulators and testimony to this is the amount of these coins I have found with the recognizable wear marks around the circumference from their use in a Kellar Coin Dropper. I have also seen a number of gimmicks including those attached to an elastic like a pull and others with tubes soldered to the back for coin wands. The coins are among the best, along with the Roterberg's, for their functionality as a palming coin. With their sharp edge, light weight, and thinness they are very easy to palm and manipulate. There are 3 major varieties, those being the Foreign, Blank, and Demon. The name denotes what is stamped at the wrist on the token. The Blank had nothing at the wrist and Demon was a product of Davenport's in London and is actually called the Davenport's in Kuethe. The coin is approximately the size of a half dollar and the image is purposely "worn" out of necessity. This allowed more to be concealed (there are thinner versions as well which provided additional assistance) and they "talked" less during transfers and steals. The coins also picked up a lot of light and were more easily seen from a stage. The coins are Davenport's MT099, and Down's Foreign and Blank, MT114 and MT115 respectively.
