FRANK DUCROT
Among my favorites are the coins that doubled as magic effects like the Ducrot set pictured here. Frank Ducrot is a name not many are familiar with today but he is credited with the creation of Blendo, The Color Changing Silk, and the 20th Century Silks as well as having been once the proprietor of Martinka's (then owned by Otto Hornmann) having taken over for Otto until Frank's death in 1939 when the store passed on to his friend Al Flosso. Frank Ducrot was a popular and well known performer in those days and one who performed on the Chautauqua circuit (an "educational" circuit of towns in which variety performers and lecturers entertained the townships. Named for the town where the circuit was conceived and began which was Chautauqua, NY). The coins pictured are a multiple set of coins which are essentially a Sun and Moon set as well as two ungimmicked matching coins. The coins are roughly the size of a quarter and are listed at MT116 and are c1935.
